Children: Malarone Paediatric is suitable for children travelling to areas where malaria is present. The dose is based on your child’s weight, and your pharmacist will confirm the correct strength before travel.
Dosage: The medication is taken once daily, starting 1–2 days before entering a malaria-risk area, continued daily during your stay, and for 7 days after leaving. It should be taken with food or a milky drink to improve absorption.
Side effects: Side effects are usually mild and may include stomach upset, headache, or nausea. Most symptoms are temporary.
Additional precautions: Antimalarial medication should be combined with bite prevention measures. Use child-appropriate insect repellent, dress children in long sleeves and trousers, and use mosquito nets where recommended.
